I graduated from the College of William & Mary in 2023 with a bachelor’s in neuroscience. In one of my psychology classes, I had to build a website for a project. I have always been an artist, but I had never touched digital design before that point. But I found that I really enjoyed building and designing the website, and that eventually led me to pivot my career path and start my own freelance website and graphic design business.
I have been a freelancer for nearly three years now, and I’ve absolutely loved meeting and working with so many new and interesting people.
When I’m not working on website stuff, I’m probably out on a walk or shopping at MOM’s (or preparing the food I got from MOM’s). This store is truly one of my happy places. I would love to be considered for a role within the team… so that I can spend even more time at MOM’s! 🙂
My freelance work is very flexible and would not interfere with a part-time job schedule.

I love spending time every day in the great outdoors. Whether it’s going on a hike or just chilling in the backyard bird watching, I’m in my element when I’m surrounded by nature. Moreover, I have a profound respect and appreciation for the environment (our home!). I am a huge advocate for performing small actions whenever possible to promote natural conservation, starting at home with things like composting food waste, reusing materials, and donating clothes.
I grew up with a mom who has taught me the importance of knowing where your food actually comes from. We grow several crops each year in our humble backyard garden including beans, peas, cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, spinach, herbs, and Swiss chard. We’ll be trying out sweet potatoes and watermelon radishes next year (we wanted to plant the radishes after trying one from MOM’s)! 😋
In addition to veggies, we also grow milkweed to attract monarch butterflies. We usually raise and release several monarchs (as well as black swallowtails that feast on our parsley) each year!
When I was at college, I lived right next to a health food store called Earth Fare. During my senior year, they had a basket of free rocks with painted hearts on them out at the entrance. You could take one each time you went to the store. I went there so often that most of the cashiers knew me by name, and I collected nearly 100 rocks! Now they are all spread around my mom’s garden and remind me of all the fun organic grocery shopping I did. I loved Earth Fare as well as Whole Foods in college, but they just can’t compare to the special place I have in my heart for MOM’s, which has the best ambiance and emphasis on local produce.
I’m a huge foodie! I love shopping at MOM’s because I don’t need to check the labels for harmful ingredients or worry about produce sprayed with harmful chemicals. I love building my culinary skills and trying new fruits and veggies from MOM’s like limequats, watermelon radishes, dried dragon fruit, and micro greens. Additionally, in college, I focused my studies on the impacts of nutrition on neurodegenerative disease. I learned about the connection between pesticides and heavy metals and Parkinson’s Disease. Overall, I can say for sure that healthy eating has significant impacts on brain health, mood, and behavior, which are all directly tied to how we show up in the world.
I love making food art!
My current work as a freelancer as well as my past jobs as a student writing center consultant and registrar’s office assistant have shaped me into a better communicator, team member, and problem solver. As a writing center consultant, I met one-on-one with different students each week, most of which I had never met before. I loved that I got to interact with so many new and interesting people, each with their own unique writing style, focus of study, and personality. As an office assistant, I learned the importance of teamwork to accomplish tedious and time-consuming document filing tasks as well as how to greet visitors, answer questions, and know which team members to call for support. As a freelance web designer, I’ve worked with over 40 business owners, each with a different business niche and design preference. I’ve also learned how to calmly navigate frustrating technical issues that often arise. As MOM’s is an advocate for small, local farms, I love supporting small businesses that do great work for their communities.

I designed bottle labels for a home kombucha brewing business! I’ve had the pleasure of working with Erica Reid, founder of Rosie Reid’s Jun Tea Kombucha in Georgia. We are in the process of building her website, and soon I’ll be doing a photo shoot of her kombucha products. This has been one of the most rewarding (and fun!) projects I’ve worked on. I hand-drew each fruit icon and the main logo (featuring her daughter Rosie) on my iPad, which was an extremely tedious task that took months of work and revision. I’ve also learned a lot about the kombucha brewing process. After never before tasting kombucha (or even knowing what it was), I am now hooked on it! I truly love supporting Erica and watching her small solopreneur venture begin to blossom.
I LOVE how all produce, even specialty kinds, are organically grown. I’m also a huge fan of the spotlight MOM’s places on local farms’ crops when possible. The store itself is small and has a peaceful ambiance (which are not adjectives I associate any other grocery store with)! It’s honestly hard for me to bring myself to leave the store…I just like walking around it so much and discovering new things! I also LOVE how there are recycling bins inside the store, milk in glass bottles you can return back, VOC-free paint in the building, BPA-free receipts, compostable produce bags, and lots of other features that go above and beyond supporting the company values.
While I may not have ever worked as a grocery store employee before, I firmly believe that my job experience, love for everything MOM’s stands for, and all of the time that I’ve spent in the store as a customer would make me a perfect fit to work as a team member. I am very much a person who acts as if the universe is rigged in my favor, sees new responsibilities as opportunities, is the happiest when busy, figures out how to fix it rather than who’s to blame, sees mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow, and enjoys spreading joy.
